TURTLES
medium: acrylic
size: 18 in x 14 in (each painting)
This piece was inspired by my trip to the Bahamas where I had the privilege to swim with turtles. This prompted me to research websites that were currently attempting to protect the habitats of this endangered species. I came across the organization, The State of the World's Sea Turtles (SWOT: http://www.seaturtlestatus.org).
Black/White painting: represents how turtles are viewed by the world; viewed as blending in with their surroundings and unimportant.
Color painting: represents how sea turtles should be viewed by the world; viewed as important, vibrant, necessary
